Avebury… one of my favourite places to visit, since watching the childrens television series ‘Children of the Stones’ in a decade not too long ago! I’ve been fascinated by it, the largest stone circle in the world. It’s a magical place and has an atmosphere that’s hard to describe. My favourite time of year to visit is during the winter when it’s possible to wander round and see relatively few other visitors – but still, you can go in the middle of summer and take some people free shots (not sheep free though).

There’s also an amazing wishing tree, so if you do go, don’t forget your ribbons!

Lovely – another place I drive past regularly but have never stopped at. I must find time to do so soon.

They’re beech trees – it is said that Tolkien took inspiration from them!
