Me too! Over here they’re called swallows too (svaler), we just put a ‘town’ or ‘country’ in front to distinguish between them. The people who lived in our house before us, used to let them build nests inside the house! So they let a door stand ajar during the brooding season (not the living room – more like a scullery). I needed the room for storing, so I had to ban them from living inside our house. They were SO mad at me the first years we lived here, and I felt really bad about it. They flew inside the house whenever a door stood open – I have a lot of pictures of swallows sitting on lamp cords etc. Well, they’re still here, just not livivng in my house. I love to sit outside in the evenings, watching them – and the bats – hunt for insects.
Lovely martins – I’ve not seen any here this year, only swallows.
