Not just any old forest but Sherwood Forest, hang out of Robin Hood (well one of them, allegedly). If you believe in Robin Hood or not ( who wouldn’t want to – where’s our modern day one?) Sherwood Forest is a magical place to visit and you get the wonderful Major Oak, which, when I was a child you were allowed to go inside. Now it’s protected and propped up but still a magnificent tree.

Another beautiful and magical place!
Are you familiar with the book Meetings with Remarkable Trees by Thomas Pakenham? If not, Get thee to the book in haste!
Happy September.
