What is that bloom? It is intriguing. I am wondering if we have hoverflies here. I would assume as much, but they must be hiding from me. We have some flies in the kitchen and I am NOT enamored with them. With two large dogs, I know where they have been..not to mention the cows. These flies are the only living creature that I have no compunction about smacking. This is all a reminder to me that there is a Daddy Longlegs in the bathroom and I must rescue him/her and take it outside.
In danish it’s called blomsterflue – flower fly 🙂 They are sort of funny; slow, unafraid and real suckers for anything sweet. We’ve had fun dapping a drop of marmelade on our hands, and watching them lick it up. It’s just, that they don’t actually lick – it looks like they’re kissing it off. The kids thinks it’s really funny. They’ve even named one (believing it’s the same one returning every day) calling it Mona’s new best friend. Ha, ha 🙂
