and that – a young Fallow Deer. I’d crept away from Forest school to take photos of the Buttercups and turned around to see this deer walking along the edge of the field.fallow deerfallow deerfallow deerFallow Deer

  1. Brilliant shots and great deer stalking! I’ve noticed more and more fields of buttercups around here to. I heard somewhere ,(Springwatch?) that they’re toxic which means grazing animals eat all the competition and leave just the buttercups. They are lovely though; as long as they’re not in my garden!

    1. I think more and more that I’ve missed my vocation Bob – anything (well almost) that involves sitting patiently in a field I would be great at! Yep I think they are toxic and that field was full of sheep earlier in the year, can’t say the same for our garden though : )

  2. I do love those buttercups. We have them here two and they are so cheerful, faces opened up when the sun shines. I did not know that they are toxic.
I thought of you the other day as I watched a bird…don’t know what kind, but it flitted around, close to the ground, and then came back to the same stump time and time again. I am sure that it was an insect eating bird and I know it was not a swallow. I thought, “Oh, if Sian was here, she would capture that bird in all of its beauty…she has that talent.”
    with affection, e.
